Famed boxing veteran Floyd Mayweather recently said that he made a whopping $2 billion offer for majority ownership of an NBA team.
Floyd went into detail about his offer during an interview with investing podcast, Earn Your Leisure. The podcast’s social media team shared a clip of the interview via their official TikTok page on Dec. 3.
“Floyd Mayweather spoke on his plans to purchase an NBA team at Market Mondays Live in MSG,” the post’s caption read.
In the clip, the 45-year-old said he was very sure about his proposal.
“I’ve been working on buying an NBA team outright. One of my other business partners, Brent Johnson, he’s here,” he said. “We’ve been working on the NBA team for a while now. It’s rough. The first offer, we offered them a little bit over $2 billion for majority ownership. Do I have it? Absolutely, I have it.”

The champion boxer initially revealed his grand plans back in June at the M Resort Spa Casino.
“I’ve been talking to certain individuals for the last six months. That’s something I’ve been working on behind the scenes, but I’ve never came out and publicly talked about that with the media,” he said at the time.
Six months later, he’s already been working towards potentially owning an NBA team in big cities such as Seattle, Las Vegas, or even a franchise that’s “already up and running.”
In his latest interview, he shared that starting the process didn’t “happen overnight.”
“But, it didn’t happen overnight. It’s a lot when you have so many different businesses all around the world,” he continued.
In 2021, NBC Sports reported that Mayweather said his net worth was over $1.2 billion in 2021. Over the summer, News Onyx reported that he was inducted into The International Boxing Hall Of Fame after an illustrious 20-year career.
