A set of Florida twins died after being electrocuted by downed power lines during Hurricane Nicole.
On Thursday, November 10, Orange County police disclosed that Khalil Malik Sapp, 23, left the car to clear a downed power line that happened to be live. He was electrocuted and pronounced dead on the scene.
His sister, Kianna Shaundadrea Sapp, 23, rushed to help her twin when she was also electrocuted and later taken to the hospital, where she died.
Kianna’s 1-year-old daughter, Myla, was in the car with the twins when the electrocutions occurred. She was taken to the hospital and later given to a family member.
Witness Kimberly Neff said the winds were so intense that first responders had trouble turning the electricity off and saving the victims.
A spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said, “We are urging all of our residents and visitors to use extreme caution if they are outside in the wake of the storm today. Never touch a downed power line. If you are driving and see a downed power line, change directions immediately.”

The twins’ mother said, “They were good kids. They were the life of the party. They always helped out whenever they can. Either one would give you the shirt off their back. They would do anything for you.”
Isaac Reano, the nail salon owner where Khalil worked, said, “We all loved him. He’s a caring person. He was always in a positive mood. Very happy. Everybody here, all his peers, are heartbroken. None of us can believe that this has happened so far. And we are just trying to cope with it.”
According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and county medical examiners, five people have died due to Hurricane Nicole.
