The family of Spencer Webb, the former Oregon Ducks football player who tragically passed away last summer, is embroiled in a paternity dispute with an Instagram model who claims that Webb fathered her child.
Kelly Kay Green, also known as Kelly Kay on social media, has been posting about her relationship with Webb and asserting that he is the father of her newborn baby.
However, Webb’s family has cast doubt on the timeline and nature of the relationship, raising questions about the child’s paternity and demanding a DNA test.
Spencer Webb, a talented tight end died on July 13, 2022, following a cliff-diving accident near Triangle Lake in Lane County, Oregon. The news of his untimely death sent shockwaves through the community and garnered national attention.
In the months following Webb’s passing, Kelly Kay Green, a 30-year-old Instagram influencer, began sharing posts about her grief and claiming that Webb was the father of her baby.
The story gained national media coverage, with People magazine featuring an article highlighting Kay’s claims and her affectionate posts about Webb.
She named the baby Spider, in reference to Webb’s childhood nickname, and shared images of the newborn on top of Webb’s Oregon football jersey.

However, the Webb family has released a statement expressing doubts about the timeline and duration of the relationship between Spencer Webb and Kelly Kay. They also question the paternity of the child.
According to the Sacramento Bee, the family asserts that they have attempted to reach an agreement for a DNA test, but talks have stalled due to Kay’s unwillingness to compromise on the collection process.
In their statement, the Webb family shares their perspective on the circumstances, stating, “Our family has doubts and concerns regarding the paternity of this child for a multitude of reasons. Until this point, we’ve remained silent in hopes that a DNA test would confirm Spencer as the father. Unfortunately, Kelly has been unwilling to compromise regarding the manner in which the DNA test is collected.”
The family provides a timeline to shed light on the situation. According to the statement, Kelly initially reached out to Spencer via a direct message on social media on June 28, 2022, just 16 days before his tragic accident. She flew to Oregon on July 7, 2022, to meet Spencer for the first time, a mere six days before his passing. The family claims that Kelly began discussing the possibility of being pregnant shortly after Spencer’s death.
The Webb family has stated their willingness to pay for the DNA test and related travel expenses. However, they insist on a mutually agreed-upon facility for the test, which Kay has reportedly been unwilling to accept.
