Illinois police are searching for a former NFL player who was reported missing on Saturday, Sept. 16, along with his mother before family members discovered her deceased later on.
According to WGN 9, family members of 35-year-old Sergio Brown and his mother, 73-year-old Myrtle Brown, reported the two missing on Saturday, leading to a search for the missing persons.
Maywood Police and family members searched Myrtleâs home, finding things out of the ordinary. Initially, the family saw no luck in locating either of them. But when they returned to search, family members found Myrtleâs body in the creek behind her house.
Emergency personnel took Myrtleâs body to the Cook County Medical Examinerâs Office, where she was confirmed dead. Medical examiners believe she died from multiple injuries that looked to be related to an assault. Her death will be treated as a homicide investigation.
As for Sergio, police are still looking for the former Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots safety.
Maywood police encourage those with any information regarding Sergioâs possible whereabouts to contact the Maywood Police Departmentâs Anonymous Tip line at 708-450-1787.
Sergioâs brother, Nick Brown, took to Facebook to ask those with any information to contact MPD and asked people to avoid approaching the property where his momâs body was found. He also thanked those for their kind words and for reaching out.
âThank you, everyone, for all of your outreach, help, love and condolences,â Nick wrote. âItâs a sad but hopeful time, and we will all get through this together. Mom always told me, âTough times donât last,â and our last conversation about tough times being temporary is my beacon of hope. Mom, thank you for being strong, caring, diligent, fancy, funny, and for saving my art. I wonât let you down. My brother Sergio is still missing. If anyone knows where he is, I want him to know that I love you, and please come home.â
