Retired NBA player Dwayne Wade and Basketball Wives reality star Aja Métoyer celebrated the birthday of their 9-year-old son, Xavier. The video showed the 9-year-old surrounded by friends, family, and a LEGO character as they sang “Happy Birthday.”

Xavier is Métoyer’s third child. Before getting with Wade, the reality star was with actor Damon Wayans Jr. and had two children with him, Amara and Aniya.
Wade had two children, Zaire and Zaya, with ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches, before having Xavier. Métoyer caught heat in 2013 when the news of her pregnancy became public. Many people started seeing her as a homewrecker because she and Wade’s fling happened while his relationship with actress Gabrielle Union was on a break.
Not only did Neighborhood Talk mention that Wade and Métoyer had their Scorpio son during the break in the birthday post, but many people in the comments touched on the subject.
“Waydaminute, Is this the baby that had him and Gabrielle bout to duke it out,” one commenter asked.
“I bet Gabby stayed home, though. I have zero respect for the way she doesn’t acknowledge all of his kids publicly,” another person wrote. “Idc if he was a break, baby. That’s his son- he’s your family.”
“Don’t act like y’all didn’t know about the oops baby…,” another person wrote.
In an interview with OK magazine, Métoyer defended herself and said that the situation was far from what people assumed; she’s not “the other woman.”
“I think that a little bit of mathematics needs to be done,” she said in the interview. “My son is not a break, baby. He’s almost four. Do the math.”
Despite the pregnancy happening during the break, Union wrote in her 2021 memoir, “You Got Anything Stronger?” about how she was heartbroken at Métoyer and Wade quickly had a child together while she was dealing with fertility problems.
“The experience of Dwayne having a baby so easily—while I was unable to— left my soul not just broken into pieces, but shattered into fine dust scattering in the wind,” Union wrote in the book.
She continued, “I can never know if my failure to carry a child put a ceiling on the love my husband has for me. Yes, I am Baby Mama, number three, a label that is supposed to be an insult.”
Through surrogacy, Union had her first child (Wade’s fourth), Kaavia.
