Orange County sheriffs are searching for 21-year-old Doujon Griffiths in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Massania Malcolm and the death of her one-year-old baby girl, Jordania.
The department posted a tweet about the pair on September 10.
“These are the two found dead in a car on Lake Ellenor Dr. yesterday. Massonia Malcolm, 20, was shot, along with her boyfriend, who remains in the hospital. Their 1-year-old daughter, Jordania, also tragically lost her life. Help us bring suspect Doujon Griffiths, 21, to justice, “ the tweet read.
The bodies of Massonia and Jordania were discovered in a vehicle near Lake Ellenor. The mother had been shot to death, and authorities suspect that the baby passed away from being left in the car in the Florida heat.
Orange County Sheriff John Mina told News 6 that the victims appeared to have been in the car for at least two days.
“In other words, this suspect allegedly left that baby to die in that car,” he said.
Early Tuesday morning, the news outlet reported that deputies responded to calls about a shooting. Upon arriving, investigators discovered a 20-something-year-old man, Massonia’s boyfriend, had been shot multiple times. Before being transported to the hospital, the victim told deputies that a friend was the shooter.
An unidentified family member called the police after being unable to contact Massonia and Jordania on Thursday. After the woman’s boyfriend’s surgery, he told Orange County deputies that Griffiths shot him as he sat in the driver’s seat and allegedly opened fire on Massonia after driving off in the car.
The man also informed authorities that Griffiths had been staying with the couple and their daughter.
Sheriff Mina commented on the tragedy, saying, “This is a horribly tragic case that has shattered two families.”
Griffiths is facing an attempted murder charge for reportedly shooting the boyfriend, but he’s only a “person of interest” in connection to Massonia and Jordania’s deaths.
