Denver Baby Forced To Get 13 Stitches After Allegedly Suffering Cut During C-Section

Childbirth can be a memorable and rewarding experience. Still, one Denver family was left feeling frustrated and devastated after learning that their newborn baby had a long cut across her face, requiring the hospital to administer 13 stitches, WGN-TV reported. Reazjhana Williams, the baby’s mother, reportedly underwent an emergency c-section during her birth. After, the newborn’s parents saw the noticeable wound on her cheek.

Reazjhana’s original plan was to deliver her baby naturally. Still, after entering Denver Health Hospital for her delivery last week, she was

told that she would need an emergency c-section, saying to WGN-TV, “They gave me a pill to speed up my labor, and a few minutes after that, I was being rushed into an emergency C-section.”

Once she was delivered, the parents claim that their baby had a cut on her face that required 13 stitches. The baby’s father, Damarqus Williams, said to WGN-TV that Denver Health Hospital’s medical staff told them their child’s face was “close to the placenta wall.”

Still, the family was left confused and wondering how this could have happened.

“I tried to be understanding about what happened, but on top of the fact that her face got cut and a plastic surgeon had to come do it, there’s just a lot of things I’m not understanding with the C-section. I’ve never heard of anybody having to deal with their baby’s face looking like this after a C-section,” Reazjhana

recalled about the experience.

A GoFundMe was recently set up for the family, asking for $10,000 to help with lawyer fees. In a description seemingly provided by one of the parents, the fundraiser stated, “Our daughter Kyanni Williams was [born] during a [cesarean], and during that process, she was cut deeply on her left [cheek] which caused her to get 13 stitches in her face. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!! Don’t really have the funds for a lawyer. Please help as much as possible. Thank you.”

Denver Health Hospital released a statement following public controversy over the cut. Claiming that they’ve been in touch with the family, the statement

read, “While this is a known medical complication in emergency C-sections, our focus is always on providing care in the best interest of the mother and child. At Denver Health, the safety and well-being of our patients is our number one priority.”

Those interested in supporting the Williams family as they obtain a lawyer can donate to their GoFundMe page.
