Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, and Tracey Edmonds announced Sunday night that they mutually decided to call off their engagement.
Edmonds took to Instagram with a photo of her and Sanders, dropping the news in the caption.
“To EVERYONE who has been there for us, supported us, and shown us love…We have mutually decided that it is best for us to move forward in life AS FRIENDS and have made this decision with love in our hearts, respect for each other, and appreciation for the time we’ve shared together.”
She continued, “Please keep us in your prayers as we go through this transition. Thank you for being there for us ALL THESE YEARS! We love you and appreciate you SO MUCH!”
The 56-year-old TV producer shut off her comment section, but, according to People, Sanders left a comment.
“Love [you], Tracey, and You’ve been a true blessing to me. I appreciate the times we’ve shared and the laughs we’ve had. You are an amazing woman and a tremendous mother. God bless [you] with every endeavor and every step [you] take. You are HER. Tracey-Mack!!!”
The 56-year-old football coach met Edmonds in 2012 at a movie premiere party, where they engaged in small talk, but the two-time Super Bowl champion obtained her business card at the end of the night.
Months later, Edmonds and Sanders met over breakfast, and he pitched an idea for a show, Deion’s Family Playbook.
Working together led the two to get closer.
“I started off thinking I was just going to produce [the show],” Edmonds recalled. “But as I started working with Deion on the show, we grew quite fond of each other and ended up dating.”
She continued, “I would’ve never imagined in a million years that our paths would cross and that we’d end up in a relationship together.”
Before her relationship with Sanders, Edmonds had two children with R&B singer-songwriter Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.
Sanders had three children with his ex, Pilar Sanders, and two with his ex, Carolyn Chambers.
