Thirty-four-year-old Christine Alexandra Fesus was arrested in Houston for murdering thirty-six-year-old DeAndrea Citizen in the parking lot of a supermarket on July 25, according to ABC13 News.
Fesus claimed that Citizen aggressively approached her, so she took out her gun and shot her, went home and called 911. Footage obtained by the police, however, disputed her account of the shooting.
“A review of nearby surveillance video did not support Fesus’ version of the confrontation,” said a statement from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Citizen, who was homeless and known to the people in the area as a sweet woman, was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Food Town store around 11:30 p.m. near Ella Boulevard. Witnesses who saw the shooting ran over to help Citizen after Fesus shot her.
The murderess told law enforcement officials that a homeless woman aggressively approached her, or that she attacked her. Fesus also told the authorities that she lived behind the store in an apartment complex and was walking her dog when Citizen approached her. The woman was shot once, and when the paramedics arrived, she was pronounced dead on the scene.
Ed Gonzalez, the Harris County Sheriff, said that witnesses claimed that Citizen did not appear to be threatening the shooter when Fesus killed her. Per ABC News, it was Fesus who approached Citizen before she shot her. After law enforcement reviewed the surveillance video, she was arrested on murder charges.
People left notes and condolences at the scene where Fesus murdered Citizen. People who knew her said that she struggled with mental illness and was homeless.
The accused is currently locked up. A $75,000 bond was set for her release.
