Dallas man Cameron Hogg has been arrested for allegedly killing Asia Womack after losing a basketball game to her.
According to Fox 4, Dallas police announced that Cameron was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for murder. The 31-year-old is accused of fatally shooting Asia–who was reportedly his friend–after she beat him in a basketball game on Oct. 3. As such, he’s also been charged with murder.
“He’d pull up to my house, pick her up. They’d ride together, eat food together, take his phone calls, give him money in jail, and you turn around and kill her?” Andrea Womack, the young woman’s mom, said. “When I got that call, I was full of joy this morning. Hadn’t had joy in a while. But with him being captured, I am full of joy today.”
News Onyx reported that the Dallas man allegedly killed Asia following the intense matchup at T.G. Terry Park in South Dallas. Court documents revealed that after words were exchanged on the court, Asia sat outside with a tv hooked up to watch football with a friend. Then, Cameron drove his truck to their location and got angry. The unnamed friend told the police. The witness added that Asia stood up to confront Cameron, but without saying a word, he pointed a handgun and shot her twice in the chest. As she fell, he allegedly shot her two more times and then left.
The same witness later identified Cameron in a photo line-up. He reportedly has a criminal history in Dallas County, which dates back more than a decade, with charges ranging from robbery to aggravated assault and family violence.
“It was senseless for him to kill his friend over a basketball game, even over words. Not the basketball game itself, but the words that were spoken after the game,” Andrea said.
