Creflo Dollar Preaches Against Tithing After Decades Of Profiting From It

Popular Atlanta-based pastor Creflo Dollar has been preaching sermons against tithing after decades of profiting from it.

According to news reports, Creflo told his followers to get rid of all their videos and books of him teaching tithing during his sermon on June 26, titled “The Great Misunderstanding.” In the speech, he claimed to have misled his followers about the practice and that it was no longer relevant.

“I will say that I have no shame at all at saying to you throw away every book, every tape, and every video I ever did on the subject of tithing. Unless it lines up with this [the Bible],” he said during the service uploaded to his official YouTube channel.

“I’ve done some corrective teaching in the last ten years, but not to the degree of what we’re getting ready to do now…So why is this important? Because religion is sustained by two factors, fear and guilt. And if there’s one subject that the Church has used, for a long time, to keep people in fear and guilt, it is that subject of tithing, and it has to be corrected. And it’s got to be corrected now.”

The famed pastor added that he would preach “grace-based giving” after over 30 years of raking millions of dollars from his devoted followers and churchgoers.

Celebrity net worth has indicated that Creflo is worth $27 million as of July 2022 and earned it through his work as a Bible teacher and founder of the Georgia-based World Changers International Ministries. He also owns a $1 million home in Atlanta and a $2.5 million one in New York City.

The 60-year-old is widely known for his church sermons about prosperity and for publishing several self-help books, including Understanding God’s Purpose for the Anointing (1992), Claim Your Victory Today (2006), and 8 Steps to Create the Life You Want (2008).
