According to Yellow Springs News, legendary comedian man Dave Chappelle is approved as of September 15 to construct his very own comedy club and restaurant in his hometown of Yellow Springs, Ohio.
The Atlanta Black Star reported that the Yellow Springs Planning Commission has officially approved the plans for the club, “Live from YS.”
“Live from YS” is going to be located at 225 Corry Street, which previously housed the Miami Township firehouse.
Apart from the club, Chappelle will have a restaurant separate from the comedy club at the same location. The restaurant is named “Firehouse Eatery,” paying tribute to the old firehouse which was there before.
Speaking about the project, Chappelle said, “The culture of this town is something of global import.”
“I think the way that we treat each other in our community is an example for the rest of the country. I’m not just trying to make a club, I’m trying to make a way. I’m trying to make a venue for our local talents to be showcased … so we can shine and be all the great things that we hope to be,” Chappelle added.
Chappelle also plans to stay homegrown and opt for local contractors for the club and is hiring local employees once they both are open.

“It’s official: construction will soon get underway for local comedian Dave Chappelle’s planned comedy club ‘Live from YS’ and restaurant ‘Firehouse Eatery’ at 225 Corry St,” the tweet said.
The club is expected to seat 140 people and feature an electric neon light with a huge C for Chappelle. It is expected to be open four nights a week, while “Firehouse Eatery” will be open seven days per week.
