Cheerleader choreographer Brandon Hale was arrested in the Mexican town of Tulum for pushing Nicolas Gallardo off a walkway on Sept. 5. Hale is a choreographer for the U.S. All-Star Federation.
The couple had been vacationing in Mexico and had arrived a few days earlier. Apparently, the couple was out having dinner when they had an argument, prompting Gallardo to go back to the villa alone in a taxi.
Hale had been drinking before dinner and things took a dramatic turn once he got to the villa. Gallardo was reportedly sleeping when Hale woke him by beating him around 1:00 a.m. Gallardo tried to escape the beating by taking an elevated walkway connecting the villas. USA Today reporter Marisa Kwiatkowski posted the story on Twitter with a picture of Hale.
“Cheer choreographer Brandon Hale livestreamed on Facebook the aftermath of a violent incident in Mexico in which he allegedly pushed his boyfriend off a third-floor walkway. A cheer gym owner and former coach paid $5,000 to get Hale released from jail.”
Hale pushed Gallardo over the railing and off the third-floor walkway before happily recording Gallardo lying on the ground bleeding from his head. The video has since been deleted. Gallardo thought that Hale was going to kill him.
After the attack, Gallardo had a gash on his head, two black eyes and large bruises all over his body. He needed stitches to close the head wound.
“It felt like premediated murder. I swear. He walked in ready to kill,” he said.
Hale was arrested but released on Sept. 8 after Gallardo accepted $5000 from Jonathan Pol, the owner of Island All-Stars in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Gallardo said that he didn’t realize not fighting Hale’s release would mean the case would be closed. Hale is
a popular choreographer in the world of cheerleading. The cheer choreographer had once been suspended from the U.S. All-Star Federation after it was revealed that he’d had sex with a minor, but the suspension was short-lived.
No further charges are expected.
