Brooklyn teenage twins performed CPR on their mother, a pregnant cop, who was fatally stabbed with a screwdriver last week on May 13.

According to the Daily News, the 14-year-old twins discovered their mother, 37-year-old Theresa Gregg, lying on the bedroom floor of their Williamsburg apartment. 

The girls acted to save their mother, dialing 911 and administering CPR to resuscitate her. Unfortunately, their attempts proved unsuccessful as Gregg, who was two to three months pregnant, 

succumbed to her injuries.

Gregg, a city Department of Homeless Services police officer, had multiple stab wounds on both sides of her neck and upper body. She also had suffered numerous blows to her head. 

Sources stated that Gregg had a 35-year-old boyfriend, who wasn’t at the scene when police arrived, and said they had a heated argument the night before the twins discovered their lifeless mother. 

The police haven’t named the boyfriend as a suspect.

“This is an absolutely heartbreaking tragedy, and our deepest condolences go out to Officer Theresa Gregg’s family, friends, colleagues and close ones. We are ever grateful for Officer Gregg’s invaluable contributions and tireless dedication to serving and supporting vulnerable New Yorkers and ensuring a safe environment for them,” the Department of Homeless Services 

said in a statement, according to ABC 7 NY.

“This is a tremendous loss for the agency and our city. We stand ready to support Officer Gregg’s family during this difficult time every which way we can,” the statement continued.

Gregg’s colleague Pierre Théoma Boisrond-Canal released a statement after learning the death of her death.

“Upon receipt of a disturbing report, allow me to offer my condolences to a good colleague and subordinate, Officer Theresa S. Gregg (909),” Boisrond-Canal wrote. “We may not have always seen eye to eye on certain things, but I do admit that she is a caring officer, devoting her time as a Community Engagement Officer in helping others, oftentimes at her personal expense. She truly exhibited the core values of the Department. I also do pray that we use the resources at our disposal to ensure that she and her family gets justice for this horrible tragedy that occurred.”
