A McDonald’s employee in Brooklyn is in critical condition after being shot by a customer’s son over an argument about cold fries.
Matthew Jeremiah Webb, 23, was listed in critical condition at Brookdale Hospital on August 2 after being shot in the neck during an argument outside of a Bedford-Stuyvesant McDonald’s. Police said the argument began when suspect Michael Morgan’s mother, Lisa Fulmore, 40, complained that her fries were cold while speaking to him on FaceTime.
“The mom complained that her fries were cold,” a police source said.
Upon hearing her spat with Webb, Morgan, 20, walked in and got into it with the McDonald’s employee, the source added. Moments later, the altercation reportedly spilled into the street.
“The mom was on FaceTime with her son, and he heard the dispute between her and the clerk. The son and the clerk got into a dispute inside, and it went outside,” the source said.
It was then that the woman’s son allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Webb in the neck, officers said.
A witness recalled a man trying to help the victim as he was lying on the ground bleeding.
“A man took off his shirt and put it on the neck to try to stop the bleeding. [The victim’s] right eye was swollen shut,” the witness said.
In footage reportedly captured on surveillance video, a man was seen holding the injured Webb’s head as blood poured onto the sidewalk.
Police sources said a 9mm casing was recovered at the scene, Morgan was taken into custody. He was then charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
His girlfriend, identified as Camellia Dunlap, was reportedly charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
The 20-year-old suspect was previously arrested multiple times, including for assault and theft of service in 2018 and grand larceny in 2019, authorities said. He also has numerous sealed arrest cases against him and was described as a witness to a shooting in Brooklyn’s 81st Precinct in May.
