Sports Journalist Shams Charania reported on Tuesday, July 25, that Boston Celtics Jaylen Brown holds the crown for signing one of the richest deals in NBA history.

Brown signed a five-year, $304 million supermax contract extension with the Celtics, making it the wealthiest deal — $303,734,893 is the actual amount and wholly guaranteed.
While the expensive extension deal included a trade kicker, his final year won’t see a player option.
For the 2024-2025 season, Brown is expected to make a little over $52.3 million, $56.5 million for 2025 to 2026, $60.7 million for 2026 to 2027 season, $64.9 million for 2027 to 2028 and $69 million for 2028 to 2029.
Prior to this contract, the 26-year-old signed a $106 million contract with the Celtics, $103 guaranteed.
During a press conference, Brown shared he wanted to use his new contract earnings toward helping the city advance.
“I want to launch a project to bring Black Wall Street here to Boston,” Brown stated. “I want to attack the wealth disparity here. I think there’s analytics that support that stimulating the wealth gap could actually be something that could be better for the entire economy.”
He continued, “With the biggest financial deal in the NBA history, it makes sense to talk about one-year investment in the community. But also…the wealth disparity here that nobody wants to talk about is top five in the US. It’s something that we can all improve on. It’s unsettling.”
“I think, through my platform, through influential partners, through elected leads, government officials, a lot who are in this room, we can come together and create new jobs, new resources, new businesses, new ideas that could highlight minorities but also stimulate the economy and the wealth gap at the same time.”
He concluded, “I think Boston could be a pilot, not just for wealth disparity here, in the US, but also for around the world.”
