Black King Alert: LeBron James To Open Multimillion-Dollar Medical Facility In Hometown

NBA all-star, two-time Olympic gold medalist, four-time NBA champion and newly-named billionaire LeBron James is opening a medical facility in his Akron.

The LeBron James Family Foundation announced the I Promise HealthQuarters, a multimillion-dollar facility that will offer services to students from James’ I Promise School and the Akron community.

The medical facility, set to open in 2023, will also partner with local health providers to provide services.

The LeBron James Family Foundation made the announcement on Instagram last Tuesday writing, “When our families expressed a need for more health care services… we went to work. Today, we’ve come together with 3 organizations, @axesspointe@colemanservices, & Peg’s Foundation to create I Promise HealthQuarters to offer a variety of services ALL under one roof.”

The Los Angeles Laker shared a tweet during the announcement writing, “It takes a village to help raise a kid and make a true difference! Love my kids and their families!”

The foundation’s executive director, Michele Campbell, said “Access to affordable health care has always been a critical need for our families – and further heightened by the pandemic – so we began rallying our community to bring the experts together under one trusted roof. Being able to provide this important resource for the entire community is only possible because we have incredible partners that share our We Are Family philosophy.”

James founded the I Promise School, an elementary school that opened in July 2018, to support at-risk children in the community. The school launched with 240 students in third and fourth grade, but classes should expand from first to eighth grade this year.

According to CNN, the I Promise School provides free tuition, transportation, uniforms, a food pantry, GED, and job placement services. They also offer guaranteed education at the University of Akron to every graduate student.

“We want every kid to walk through this school to be inspired, to come away with something. Something where they can give back, James said.

James’ legacy continues to grow and we are excited to see the positive attributions the I Promise HealthQuarters will make to the Akron community.
