A 17-year-old male teen learned the hard way that crime doesn’t pay.
TMZ reported that a video that went viral on Monday captured the teen attempting to rob a Louis Vuitton store in Bellevue, Washington. The actual time of the incident is unknown. Video footage revealed two unidentified people pulling a snatch-and-grab of the expensive bags from a wall inside the store. The culprits also attempted to remove the security tags from the merchandise. The duo ran out of the Louis Vuitton location while security looked on.
The 17-year-old teen was also with the other two bandits, but he wasn’t so lucky.
Because he’s a minor, his name has been withheld. The store’s security camera also caught him trying to make off with some Louis Vuitton merchandise. When he tried to escape, he ran into a large, crystal-clear glass window, knocking himself tf out. Store security pounced on the unconscious teen, detaining him.
According to TMZ, prosecutors claimed he was a part of an ongoing theft ring in Bellevue. Before knocking himself unconscious, the 17-year-old teen reportedly stole $18,000 worth of Louis Vuitton merchandise.
In February, a pair of thieves made off with merchandise from a Louis Vuitton store in Westchester Mall in New York. During the incident, store employees fought with one of the bandits to secure the merchandise again. However, they failed to stop him or retrieve the bags, and he eventually escaped. His accomplice made off fairly quickly with the luxe items.
Last November, thieves also snatched and grabbed thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from the high-end retailer in Chicago and San Francisco.
“Officers arrived on scene to a retail store in Union Square where they observed several suspects involved in criminal acts,” SFPD wrote in a statement. “Officers have arrested multiple suspects [and are] continuing to respond to other retail establishments, where reports of vandalism are occurring.”
