Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber is out in the meantime due to a knee injury sustained during Saturday’s (Aug. 12) game against Nottingham Forest.
Without specifying his hiatus period, the Arsenal Football Club announced that the 22-year-old injured his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and requires surgery.
“The support and expertise from our medical team and everyone at the club will now be focused on Jurrien’s rehabilitation program to ensure he recovers well and is back playing as soon as possible,” the club’s statement read.
Timber gave an update to his supporters on X, sharing that his injury was more severe than he perceived and he was “gutted.”
“I wanted to repay you on the pitch, which will not be possible for the forthcoming period,” the 22-year-old wrote. “Thanks for making me feel at home, and see you at The Carpet.”

He also shared the news on his Instagram, adding, “I’m blessed with a lot of great people around me. Together we will do anything to get back as soon and strong as possible. For now, I’ll be supporting our team from the stands, of course.”
With Timber out for a while, many wonder who will replace him. Ironically, Timber took Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko’s place after he dealt with problems with his calf.
Fans hope Zinchenko could return in shape for Monday’s (Aug. 21) game against Crystal Palace.
So far, Arsenal is on a roll, defeating Barcelona (5-3) on July 26, Monaco (5-) on Wednesday (Aug. 2), Man City (4-1) on Sun, Aug. 6 and Nottingham on Saturday (2-1).
Arsenal fans want to keep that winning streak going.
