An 11-year-old entrepreneur in Toledo, Ohio, transformed his lawn-mowing hobby into a business, WTOL 11 reported.
Tre’shawn Pittard, 11, is a student at Riverside Elementary School during the day and a lawnmower after school. During his business hours, Pittard’s mom would drive him to strangers’ homes to mow their lawns, which is the opposite of a chore for him. The one thing that would maintain his focus is the goal to make the front yard look “perfect.”
To reach perfection, Pittard would “start with the front” and then make his way “slowly to the back.”
Before his business expanded, Pittard cut grass for his mom and a few neighbors.
“I had started when I was in the house and I asked my mom’s boyfriend, ‘could I cut grass?'” Pittard said. “He said yes.”
He expanded his business and even took advantage of the LaGrange Branch Library’s business resources to print professional business cards.
“We were thrilled,” Kelsey Rader, the library’s spokesperson, said. “We want people to know about our resources, we want them to come in and use them. We were so happy he was doing it in such a positive way too.”
Word of his business got around to where he was posted on Facebook, gaining him more customers.
“When I first started, before I got posted on Facebook, I had 7,” he said. “(Now it’s) 12 r 11.”
Pittard said he liked continuing his business because it kept him away from trouble while in school.
The 11-year-old is not only incredible with his company, but his marketing strategies are also unique. Pittard would film himself with a $10 bill and business card in an envelope along with candy and tell his viewers to find the gifts at whichever location he filmed.
The young entrepreneur plans on extending his business to snow plowing since winter is rolling around.
