Activist Shaun King has raised some eyebrows by launching an organic clothing line named “A Real One” that sells hoodies for $165. King has been accused of grifting before, and his latest venture is not helping his reputation.
The activist’s new clothing line, A Real One, is reportedly made from all organic materials by Black-owned farmers, designers and distributors. King said on the line’s website that his plain black and white fashions would help build a freedom fighting company for social justice.
“I built this company for social justice. We are not a fashion company that dabbles in confronting inequity. We are a freedom fighting company that does fashion. It took me nearly 2 years to figure out how to design, sell, package, and ship beautifully crafted clothing with Black owned providers from the seed to the shipping. Together, we can change the entire supply chain. Thank you for your love and support. Your Friend and Brother, Shaun King.”

We can appreciate the sentiment, but $165?
Of course, Black Twitter couldn’t let King slide on the audacity of trying to sell Black folks a $165 hoodie in the name of justice.
Journalist Imani Gandy lit King’s a** up on Twitter, and we’re here for it. She called him Scam Waterson and mocked his “from the seed to the shipping” Black savior clothing claim.

King didn’t seem to mind the naysayers on social media calling him a grifter and thanking them for bringing traffic to his Facebook page. The activist claimed that the hate he was getting online boosted his algorithms, and he was grateful for it.
