A Now-Former Family Dollar Employee Pulls Gun On Boss After Getting Removed From Work Schedule For Excessive Sick Calls

An angry Memphis woman was arrested Thursday after she pulled a gun out on her Family Dollar boss for being disciplined after calling in sick numerous times, Fox 13 reported.

Police identified the woman as 24-year-old Dyneisha Holliday, facing one aggravated assault and three reckless endangerment charges.

It all started when Holliday texted her boss that she was taking off because she was sick. The manager told police that she told her employee that she would be removed from the company’s work schedule for her excessive sick days.

The situation allegedly escalated to Holliday threatening to show up at the store located in the 3400 block of Summer Avenue, which she did. The 24-year-old disgruntled woman reportedly arrived at the store and pulled the gun on the boss, waving it around, with customers and other employees inside. She returned the gun to her holster and threw a stapler at the manager. Amid being escorted out of the store by a fellow employee, Holliday threatened to “shoot up” the manager’s automobile.

When questioned by the police following her arrest, she told them that she arrived at the store because a different manager instructed her to come, bringing a gun with her for preparation in case anything was to escalate in person. As for her reason for drawing her weapon, the now-unemployed woman said she was adjusting her holster.

Documents obtained by News Onyx show that Holliday was booked into the Shelby County jail on Jan. 5. Her bond sits at $10,000. Her next hearing date is Jan. 13 at 9 a.m.

The aggravated assault charge is classified as a C-class felony, with Holliday looking at more than 10 years of prison time but less than 25 years– if she’s found guilty. The three reckless endangerment charges are misdemeanors.

According to reports, the gun did not fire at anyone, and none of the employees were injured during Holliday’s act of rage.
