A Black Father Spoke Against Critical Race Theory On TikTok & Conservatives Couldn’t Be Happier

Kory Yeshua, a self-proclaimed “American patriot,” went viral on TikTok last month for speaking out against critical race theory. With his young daughter by his side, the Black father stated in the video that all races should be treated the same but continued to claim that critical race theory taught in schools will change that.

“Daddy teaches you you can be anything in this world that you want to be, right? Don’t daddy teach you that,” he asked his daughter before adding, “Doesn’t matter if you’re black, white, brown, yellow, right? And how we treat people is based on who they are and not what color they are.”

“This is how children are,” the Black father continued. “This is how children think right here. Critical race theory wants to end that. Not with my children. It’s not gonna happen. My baby’s gonna know that no matter what she wants to be in life, all she has to do is work hard, and she can become that.”

According to Brittanica Online, critical race theory is best described as an “intellectual movement and loosely organized framework of legal analysis based on the premise that race is not a natural, biologically grounded feature of physically distinct subgroups of human beings but a socially constructed (culturally invented) category that is used to oppress and exploit people of colour.”

According to NPR’s Scott Simon, critical race theory has been around for decades. Still, many parents and conservatives have recently fired back at the concept being taught in schools across the nation.

Following pushback from conservatives and others, Georgia’s Board of Education recently offered a resolution that will limit race discussions in the state’s schools. According to Fox 5 in Atlanta, it states that no Georgia school

shall discuss race in the classroom if “an individual feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress on account of his or her race or sex.”

A Texas bill passed recently passed by Republicans in the state will seek to ban critical race theory from being taught in schools, putting dedicated educators in a tough position when teaching children U.S. History, the Washington Post reported.

So naturally, Conservatives went up for Yeshua’s viral TikTok video and the messages he teaches his daughter.

Laura Ingraham, the host of Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, tweeted out in support, “#TikTok blocked the audio to this clip by Kory Yeshua about Critical Race Theory!”

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, a Republican, also wasted no time and sharing her excitement at the video, saying on Twitter, “Kory Yeshua is teaching his daughter to love people. That’s exactly what God intended. That’s exactly what America is about.”

“This is beautiful. Such a great dad teaching that baby the very thing all children should be taught: they can be anything they want to be,” another user added. “That is progress, not the regression that says oppression prevents people from living their full lives!”

Referring to his video going viral on TikTok and receiving praise from Conservatives and others, Yeshua told KUSI News in San Diego, “It’s been overwhelming, it’s been lovely. We just appreciate it. We appreciate everybody for reaching out.”
