The remains of a missing 75-year-old Baltimore, Maryland, resident were discovered in a container on March 7, Law & Crime reported.
According to WBAL TV, Versey Spell, 75, was a retired greeter at Oriole Park at Camden Yards who suffered polio and lupus, requiring her to rely on a cane and walker.
However, when her family arrived at her residence, they
found her apartment in disarray and the basement door kicked in. Some of her belongings, like glasses, were found outside. Her cane and keys were left in the house, but Spell was nowhere to be seen.A strange woman was spotted sleeping in the bed, according to WJZ.
Spell was last seen at the 3900 block of Barrington Road.
The Baltimore Police Department sent out a missing report for Spell on Oct. 21, 2022.
“Ms. Spell stands 5’5” tall, weighs approximately 140 lbs., and was last seen wearing a black shirt, black leggings, and black shoes. She uses a walker or cane to walk,” the report read.
Spell’s sister Bettea Brown-Wilson had difficulty with the situation and expressed her confusion about how her sister’s disappearance happened.
“It’s terrible,” Brown-Wilson said. “I don’t sleep. I don’t eat. The whole family’s just, we just don’t know because she wasn’t like that.”
Police found Spell’s skeletal remains inside the container at the 3400 block of Garrison Boulevard. A medical examiner ruled the 75-year-old died from homicide.
“Homicide detectives are actively investigating this murder. There are no additional details to share at this time.”
In a statement to Law & Crime, the Orioles wrote, “We are saddened to hear of the passing of long-time Orioles usher, Versey Spel. Our Orioles family sends heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. We will miss her warm welcomes at the ballpark.”
