Three suspects involved in the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old in Jackson, MS, were arrested and charged on Monday.
WAPT reported that a Jackson Police Department officer attested in court that the 12-year-old Markell Noah died while fighting with the suspects over a gun, causing it to go off and kill him. Jackson Police previously reported that the suspects and Markell died from a game of Russian roulette.
The young boy’s family denied he played Russian Roulette and said he disappeared after leaving the house last Friday in the early morning to meet up with friends. The family reported
him missing around 3 a.m. Markell’s body was found on Audubon Place in an abandoned house.“Pieces of us are gone now since my baby’s gone,” Sonya Noah, Markell’s mother, said.
An officer told WAPT that the suspects meddled with evidence by removing Markell’s body to hide it someplace else.
Police arrested an anonymous 14-year-old (name not reported due to the age), 17-year-old Eshawn Green and 21-year-old Kaylan Owens. The court charged
Green with murder and tampering with evidence, and the bond was set at $2 million for murder and $100,000 for tampering with evidence. The 14-year-old was charged with the same as Green; only his bond was set at $1 million for murder and $100,000 for tampering.Authorities said that Owens helped clean up the murder scene, charging her with accessory after the fact to the murder, and her bond was set at $500,000.
“I feel like they should have had no bond — everybody,” Sonya said. “I feel like they didn’t have no remorse for my baby for what they did to him. Because what they did to him wasn’t even human. They couldn’t have had no type of love for my baby the way they did him, and they hung around him every day. They hung around with him every day, and they did him like that.”
Owens and Green were also charged for their involvement with another murder that killed a 44-year-old man named Terrell Jenkins, and both were rejected bond for Jenkins’ murder.
Green and Owens were allegedly dating, and Owens is two weeks pregnant.
