Ja’han Jones, a blog writer for The ReidOut, castigated NYC Mayor Eric Adams for blaming immigrants for the city’s immigration issue instead of those truly responsible.
Wednesday night, Sept. 6, Adams held a town hall meeting where he stated the city was gaining 10,000 migrants a month from all over the globe.

“Everyone is saying, ‘It’s New York City’s problem.’ Every community in this city is going to be impacted,” Adams warned. “We had a $12 billion deficit that we’re going to have to cut. Every service in this city is going to be impacted. All of us.”
He added, “It’s going to come to your neighborhoods.”
In addition to the immigrants, he also blamed Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott for shipping immigrants from Texas to New York. But most of the blame went toward those seeking asylum.
Jones wrote that Adams’ speech was his way of saying the city needed more aid from the government to handle the influx of immigrants.
Many Conservatives agreed with Adams’ comments about the crisis, while some claimed the mayor played a part in the situation by providing for the immigrants. Jones said that Conservatives only agree with the mayor because “…they feel they’ve made him submit, or that he has at least come around to their bigoted thinking.”
Jones voiced NY Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Corez’s thoughts: “The White House *does* need to step up. We have solutions. Alienating people isn’t one of them.”
Choosing to gut public programs, favor big business, skyrocket rents, and defunding schools to add *another* $5b in militarization & then blaming immigrants for it is not leadership.

Jones also agreed with Ocasio-Cortez about the government extending temporary protected status to migrants. But what frustrated the blogger is that Mayor Adams asserted the immigrants drove the city into financial problems.
Fox News reported that Jones referred to Adams as “Black Trump,” but if they read, they’d see that he stated it’s what others call the mayor.
Days after the town hall where Adams claimed immigrants were destroying the city, he reported that agencies would need to slash five percent of their spending before the Office of Management and Budget released the fiscal update in November.
According to the City Hall press release, the city’s budget cuts won’t impact layoffs, and the mayor included a halt to hiring in the savings plan.
“The simple truth is that longtime New Yorkers and asylum-seekers will feel these potential cuts — and they will hurt,” Adams claimed. “New Yorkers are angry and frustrated, and they’re right to be. I am, too.”
