It’s not every day you think you found a dead rodent in your soup. Still, for Jason Lee and Eunice Lucero Lee, it was just another delivery mishap from Gammeeok, a Korean restaurant in Manhattan’s Koreatown.
According to TMZ, the couple claimed they ordered food from Gammeeok and found a furry surprise lurking in their soup, causing them to become violently ill and seek medical attention.
However, Gammeeok is fighting back, releasing surveillance video that they believe proves there’s no way a rat could have made it into the soup.
In a lengthy and detailed Instagram post, the restaurant said,
“Once, the person ordered food with Uber Eats. If a ‘rat’ came out, it could be argued as evidence saying ‘Look at this’ when they came to our store, but we didn’t see any real thing. Also, if you look at the other party’s yelp account, there is a review in the past saying that flies came out of that person’s house because they “take out” in the same way as we did at another restaurant in K-town. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing for most people.”
They added, “When we transferred the soup, we served it four times with a ladle while the staff watched it with their eyes. If there was a mouse that big, there’s no way I wouldn’t have missed it. There is also a video recording of the recording process. We checked the whole process of making the soup, but we couldn’t find any problems.”

Despite Gammeeok’s denial, the couple is pursuing a lawsuit, claiming that the Korean restaurant had a C grade from the NYC Health Department in January and failed to disclose it to customers. The Lees are seeking compensation for their “soup-ernatural” experience.
