A 7-year-old California boy’s quick thinking saved a toddler’s life at the local pool of his apartment complex on July 19.
Good Morning America reported that Massiah Browne of Sacramento bravely took matters into his own hands as he was enjoying a day at the pool with his family. Massiah noticed a small child at the bottom of the water. He recalled seeing his eyes and mouth wide open.
“I was just playing in the pool, and then I saw a boy at the bottom of the pool,” the second-grader told the morning show. “And I went to go get him.”
Massiah dove six feet to the pool’s base to rescue the toddler. His mother, Tiara Delvalle, told the show that she hurried outside after family members told her what had transpired. With the help of his 9-year-old relative, Savannah, they pulled the unresponsive toddler onto the deck.
Grown-ups began CPR and called the paramedics.
“Savannah brought him to his mom, and then they did CPR on the boy, and then they called the doctor,” Massiah said.
The 7-year-old’s actions ultimately saved the toddler’s life once the water was out of the child’s lungs.
Massiah’s mom, Tiara, said she is extremely proud of her son.
His father, professional boxer Marcus Browne, called his son a “hero.”
Marcus also celebrated his son on Instagram.
